(VIEW MEMORIAL VIDEO) Wendell Wayne Gevedon of Grassy Creek, KY, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY at the age of 55 years, 8 months, and 9 days. He was born on Friday, September 8, 1950 at Hazel Green, KY, a son born to Roger Wendell Gevedon and the late Anzie Mae Long Gevedon. Wendell was united in marriage to Sharlean Benton on September 8, 1978. Wendell was a construction worker and a farmer. He was a member of the Salem Community Church. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, and brother. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Timothy Gevedon; and his father-in-law, Leonard Benton. He is survived by his wife, Sharlean Benton Gevedon; two sons, Chris and April Gevedon of Grassy Creek, KY and Scott and Casey Gevedon of Salyersville, KY; his father, Roger Gevedon of Grassy Creek, KY; three grandchildren, Chase, Summer, and Aaron Gevedon; one brother, Dwayne and Rhonda Gevedon of Grassy Creek, KY; two sisters, Gloria and Carl Covey of Georgetown, KY and Elaine and Keith Manning of Grassy Creek, KY; his mother-in-law, Maggie Benton of Cannel City, KY; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Edward & Mae Benton, Janet & Dewey Parker, Roger & Sharon Benton, and Ada Benton; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends. Funeral service, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2006, at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in the Gevedon Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY. Visitation, 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2006, at the Potter Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Scottie Jones, Jamie Jones, Mark Hopkins, Jeremy "DoDo" Howard, Ricky Jones, Lynn Phipps, Larkin Phipps, and Jeremy Benton. Honorary Pallbearers: Larry Oldfield, Jim Carty, Greg Weddington, Keith Manning, Dustin Benton, Jerry Lykins, Jason Gevedon, Winston Manning, Beau Covey, Ashley Benton, and Jack Johnson.
