Vernon Elam

Vernon Elam of Cannel City, KY, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, At his residence at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 24 days. He was born on Saturday, May 11, 1940 in Wheelrim, KY, son of the late Lonnie and Ressie Patrick Elam.

Vernon was united in marriage to Margie Salyers. This union was blessed with four children, Vernon Jr, Jackie Lynn, Christopher Lee, and Kimberly.

Vernon was a retired Blaster working Road Construction, and a member of Fritz Church of God and ordained Elder. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Ressie Elam, and one sister, Pauline Dunn.

Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Margie Elam, Cannel City, KY; Four children, Vernon Elam Jr, West Liberty, KY, Jackie Lynn Elam (Sherry), Christopher Lee Elam (Brenda), Kimberly Conley (Charles), Salyersville, KY; 13 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, One Brother, Norman Elam (Francis), West Liberty, KY, One Sister, Helen Lykins, Salyersville, KY, and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral service 1:00 pm Monday at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dallas Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon Elam Cemetery, George Litteral Rd., Cannel City, KY. Visitation 6:00 pm Sunday at the Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Austin Elam, Dakota Elam, Charles Conley, Joseph Conley Tyler Conley, James Brown. Honorary Pallbearers: Vernon Elam Jr, Jackie Elam, Christopher Elam.
