Vernie Ellen (Ferguson) Elam Patrick

Vernie Ellen Ferguson Elam Patrick of Elkfork, KY, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at Elliott County Nursing & Rehab, Sandy Hook, KY, at the age of 87 years, 1 month, & 28 days.  She was born Monday, March 29, 1937 at West Liberty, KY, daughter of Thurman & Louella Sparks Ferguson.

She was united in marriage to her first husband, Leonard Elam.  After his passing, she later married Arkie Patrick.  Vernie was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family & home.  She was saved and baptized in the late 1960’s.  She will be remembered as a loving sister and aunt, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman & Louella Sparks Ferguson; her first husband, Leonard Elam; her second husband, Arkie Patrick; four sisters & two brothers, Thelma Hutchinson, Essie Conley (James), Paul Ferguson, Tressie Gamble, Monnie Messler (Gary), and James B. Ferguson.

She is survived by one brother, Ollie Ferguson of Farmers, KY; one sister, Lula Mae Hankins of Campton, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home, with family members officiating.  Burial to follow in the Elam Cemetery, Index, KY.  Visitation 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2024 at the funeral home.
