Timothy Wayne “Poppy” Tyree, 64, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, May 11, 2026. Born on Thursday, April 5, 1962, in West Liberty, KY, son of Wayne & Emily Conley Tyree.
Tim was a member of the Straight Creek Enterprise Baptist Church and a retired employee of Mt. Telephone, with 31 years of dedicated service working as a Construction Supervisor & Mapping Engineer.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gerald & Elsie Potter Tyree and Chester & Eva Haynes Conley; his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Leonard & Lois Bayes Adkins; brothers-in-law, Harold Adkins & Denzil Adkins; and sister-in-law, Anna Mays.
He is survived by his parents, Wayne & Emily Tyree; his loving wife of 45 years, Edna Mae Adkins Tyree; their son, Jason Tyree; granddaughter, Pailyn Tyree of Elkfork, KY; one brother, Steven Tyree (Sandra) and one sister, Melissa May (Dean) all of West Liberty, KY. Other survivors include brothers-in-law, Darrell Adkins, Windell Adkins (Sharon) of Fairborn, OH, and Leonard Ray Adkins (Marsha) of Elkfork, KY; sisters-in-law, Sharon Cottle of West Liberty, KY and Linda Adkins of Ezel, KY; his aunts, Nila Crouch (John) of Mt. Sterling, KY, Sylvia Smith of SC, and Debbie Hunt of FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tim fought a 19 year long, painful battle with cancer that left him weak in body, but strong in his faith. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing a seat on his John Deere tractor with his best pal, his granddaughter Pai. He will be missed by his family and many friends, and especially his fur baby, Oreo.
Funeral service, 1 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2026 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Elder Tom Steele and Bro. David Stamper officiating. Burial to follow in the Tyree Cemetery, Big Mandy RD, Elkfork, KY. Visitation from 6 -9 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the funeral home.
