Thelma Louise (Fairchild) Lewis Adkins

Thelma Louise Lewis Adkins of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 15 days. She was born Thursday, April 14, 1932, daughter of the late Leslie & Martha Hurley Fairchild.

She was united in marriage to Charles Lewis, this union was blessed with ten children.  After the passing of Charles, she later met and married J.C. Adkins.  Thelma was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home.  She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Lick Fork Pentecostal Church.  She loved her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

In addition to her parents, Leslie & Martha Fairchild, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Lewis; her second husband, J.C. Adkins; five children, Charles “Jr” Lewis, Laverne Lewis, Marvin Lewis, Jackie Lewis, & Wilma Adkins; and seven siblings, Lucy Pauline Smith, Leslie Fairchild, Jr., Jesse Fairchild, William Donald Fairchild, Vernal Lee Fairchild, Paul Fairchild, and Charles Edward Fairchild.

She is survived by five children, Dean Lewis (Vicci), Jerry Lewis, Shirley Lewis (Barry) all of West Liberty, KY, Sheila Raymer (Owen) of Smithfield, VA, and Sharon Lewis (Keith) of West Liberty, KY; 13 grandchildren, Marilyn Smith, Charles “Chuck” Lewis, Gary Lee Lewis, Joseph “Joey” Lewis, Dusti Rose Lewis, Kim Samples, Jason Lewis, Justin Lewis, Jerrica Shaver, Alisha Wood, Kristina Morrison, Patrick Raymer, and Brittany Whitt; a host of great grandchildren; two step children, Brenda Vest (Ira) of West Liberty, KY and Sharon Conway (Steve) of Sandy Hook, KY; four step grandchildren and several step great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Johnny Dagnan, Bro. Phillip Ferguson, and Bro. Jonathan Sargent officiating.  Burial to follow in the Arthur Lewis Cemetery, Lewis Lane, West Liberty, KY.  Visitation 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the funeral home.
