Shamel Lynn Whitt

Shamel Lynn Whitt of West Liberty, KY, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Morgan County ARH, West Liberty, KY, at the age of 68 years, 9 months, and 4 days.  He was born Tuesday, August 6, 1957, at West Liberty, KY, son of Bernie “Bun” & Viola Frisby Whitt.

Shamel was a farmer.  He was of the Christian faith and attended the Wrigley Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie “Bun” & Viola Whitt; and one brother and two sisters, Bernie Wayne Whitt, Joyce Eldridge & Sarah Lovell Woolums.

Shamel is survived by his special friend and partner, Betsy Moore; two children, Sara Whitt Howard & Shamel Casey Whitt; one grandson, Noah Whitt; and eleven siblings, Bonnie Yeary, Totsy Evans, Roxie Johnston (Ronnie), Sharon Holbrook, Beverly Little (Larry), Deborah Gray (Gary Hazle), Dottie Johnston (Johnny), David Whitt, Jennifer Young, Darlene Winstead (James), and Connie Patton (Bob).

Shamel will be missed by all his family and many friends.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the Potter Funeral Home with Rev. Garry Ferguson officiating.  Burial to follow in the A.L. Whitt Cemetery, Redwine Road, West Liberty, KY.  Visitation at 6 - 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers:  Eric Mullins, Kyle Young, Joey Little, Koby Johnston, Mark Johnston, Jerry Whitt, Keith Holbrook, Dan Oliver, Gary Hazle, and Braylon Basford.
