Ruby May Goodpaster of Louisville, KY, formerly of West Liberty, KY, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 in Louisville, KY, at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 11 days. She was born Wednesday, September 12, 1934 at Woodsbend, KY, daughter of the late James & Pearlie Gilbert May.
Ruby was united in marriage to her first husband, Charles Johnson, this union was blessed with two sons, James & Danny. She later married Vinson Goodpaster and they spent 38 wonderful years together. She was a Christian and a member of the Church of God. Ruby loved to travel, work puzzles, and spend time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, James & Pearlie May, she was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Charles Johnson and Vinson Goodpaster; one son, James Johnson; and step-son, Kevin Goodpaster; and brother, Earnest "Honey Bee" May.
She is survived by her son, Danny Johnson (Ruscinda) of Louisville, KY; step-son, Dale Goodpaster (Jo) of Illinois; step-daughter, Cathy Bear of California; grandchildren, Aaron Johnson (Angie), Shelby Palmer (Shawn), and Lindsey Johnson; step grandchildren, Kelly Fuller (Doug), Casandra Goodpaster, Melissa Dudek (Jim), Joey Landry (Cynthia), Nick Landry (Angie), Luis Ramirez ( Kimberly), Elysia Ramirez (Carissa); sixteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces & nephews; and special friend, April Wood.
Graveside Service 1 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2023 at West Liberty Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Karl Elam officiating. Burial will follow.
