Roger Lee Nickell

Roger Lee Nickell of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, at his residence, at the age of 83 years, 9 months, & 8 days.  He was born Monday, May 19, 1941, in Caskey Fork, KY, son of Robert & Oakie Nickel Nickell.

Roger was a former truck driver and farmer.  He was of the Christian Faith and attended the Index Community Church.  He was a Mason for over 61 years and member of the Mizpah Masonic Lodge # 507.  Roger will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and brother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Oakie Nickell; his wife, Mary Frances May Nickell; his son, Roger Byron “R.B.” Nickell; and brothers & sisters, Imogene Coombs, Robert Nickell, Eugene Nickell, Arnold Nickell, Nellie Smith, Betty Neal, Gladys Gevedon, and Lingle Foreman.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Annette DeBurger (Steven) of Winchester, KY; two grandchildren, Jason Bowles (Michelle) of Winchester, KY and Raechelle Bowles (Becca Hooker) of Lexington, KY; one sister, Edna Nickell Daniel; and several nieces & nephews.

Memorial service, 1 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2025 at Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Harry Frisby officiating.  Burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Woodsbend, KY.  Visitation 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Friday March 7, 2025 at Potter Funeral Home.
