Robert "Bobby" G. Lewis

Robert “Bobby” G. Lewis of West Liberty, KY, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, & 14 days.

He was born on Friday, September 16, 1938 at Floress (Lacy Creek), KY, son of the late Erandon & Mary Frances Elam Lewis.

On May 28, 1957, he was united in marriage to his best friend, Reta Faye Hammond Lewis, who survives him.  They eloped to Chicago, IL, where Bob was employed.  They were blessed with four wonderful daughters who survive him, Robin Faye Conley & Tommy of West Liberty, KY, Rhonda Kaye Henderson & Larry of Versailles, KY, Cynthia Frances Blair & Paul Miller of Lexington, KY, and Sheila Gail Lykins of West Liberty, KY.

Bob was Papaw to two granddaughters, Marita Dawn Conley Cooper & Kevin of Harrogate, TN and Sara Ann Henderson Allen & Chris of Versailles, KY; five grandsons, Phillip Jason Jenkins & Melissa of Morehead, KY, Eric Lewis Conley & Christie of West Liberty, KY, Joshua Seth Blair & Brittany of West Liberty, KY, John Robert Henderson & Kayla of Elizabethtown, KY, and Kirby Matthew Lykins of West Liberty, KY.

He was “Poppy” to fourteen great grandchildren, Haley Dawn Conley, Kenzie Jade Conley, Elizabeth Ann Cooper, Ella Layne Jenkins, Maddi Brook Conley, Sawyer Graham Blair, Ann Lawrence Allen, Emerson Luke Jenkins, Saydie Brooke Blair, Addison Eloise Allen, Sydney Kate Blair, Sara Katherine Henderson, Madeline Grace Henderson, and Logan Cooper & Morgan.  One great-great grandson, Jonah Cooper.

He & Faye lived in Chicago off & on for a few years, where he worked in a factory.  Then they returned to Morgan County where he was a self-employed refrigeration repairman for several years.  He was employed by the State Fire Marshall’s Office for 30 years as a Hazardous Materials inspector and retiring in 1998.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Julian Lewis; one sister, Shirley Heise; one niece and one nephew.

He enjoyed fishing and spent many happy days with his family on Cave Run Lake.  He also loved golfing and could be found at Pleasant Valley Country Club regularly.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home with Eric Conley & Phillip Jason Jenkins officiating.  Burial to follow in the Church of Christ Cemetery, Lacy Creek, KY.  Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers:  Kevin Cooper, Eric Conley, Chris Allen, John Robert Henderson, Phillip Jenkins, Josh Blair, Kirby Lykins, and Richard “Dickie” Williams.
