Richie Morris Stacy of West Liberty, KY, passed away, Sunday, October 23, 2022 at his residence, at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 20 days. He was born Saturday, April 3, 1937, at West Liberty, KY, son of the late Berlin “Chick” & Helen Owsley Stacy.
Richie was united in marriage to Jeanette Easterling. This union was blessed with three children, Vickie Elaine, Richie Darren, and Paul Gregory.
Richie was a retired Engineer for the Kentucky State Highway Department and was a former manager at the Town & Country Bowling Lanes. He was an avid sports man. He loved the KY Wildcats and loved to play golf, where he won the Club Championship multiple years at the Pleasant Valley Country Club. As a young man, he played semi-pro baseball for the KY Road Oilers. Richie excelled in all sports except when playing “Rook”, where he would always lose to his wife and sister-in-law.
Richie was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in West Liberty. He served in his church as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, R.A.’s Teacher, and would always help in Vacation Bible School serving refreshments to the children where he was known as the “Cookie Monster”. Richie had a true gift when he prayed, for his prayers were always heartfelt and spoke beautifully, with love and compassion.
Richie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Natalie Stacy Manning.
Richie is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Easterling Stacy; three children, Vickie Elaine Henley of Louisville, Richie Darren Stacy (Mary Nell), and Paul Gregory Stacy all of West Liberty; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, John Lee Stacy (Barbara) of West Liberty; two brothers-in-law, Jack Easterling (Belinda) of NC and Ben Easterling (Teresa) of Helechawa; one sister-in-law, Terry Sue Lacy (Mike) of White Oak; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Jeff Ryder officiating. Entombment to follow at the West Liberty Memorial Gardens, West Liberty, KY. Visitation from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Vickie Henley, Richie Darren Stacy, Greg Stacy, Stacy Henley, Brandon Potter, and Josh Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers: Donald McKenzie and Marling Potter.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Bluegrass Hospice.
