Ralph Byrd

Ralph Byrd of West Liberty, KY, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, KY, at the age of 94 years and 22 days. He was born Monday, July 16, 1928, at Centerville, KY, son of the late Asa Porter Byrd & Mae Conley Byrd.

Ralph was united in marriage to Ruth Ison. This union was blessed with six children, Charlotte, Justin, Phillip, James, Lisa, and Gary Michael. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. He was a Christian and a member of the Index Community Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great & great-great grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa Porter & Mae Conley Byrd; one son, Gary Michael Byrd; and one sister, Virginia Williams.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife of over 75 years, Ruth Byrd; five children, Charlotte Byrd Graves (Jacky) of West Liberty, KY, Justin Byrd (Mary Ruth) of Winchester, KY, Phillip Byrd (Karen), James Byrd (Genoa), and Lisa Byrd Lewis (Jimmy) all of West Liberty, KY; ten grandchildren, Gary Prater, Jennifer Leach, Shawna Ward, Myrisa Christy, Wesley Byrd, Kristie VanCleave, Amberlee Cobbler, Kimberlee Blevins, Eric Byrd, Graham Lewis; seventeen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Frisby officiating. Burial to follow in the Boney Haney Cemetery, Castle Branch, West Liberty, KY. Visitation from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the funeral home.
