Rachel Lois Zook was born on November 4, 1946, in Portsmouth, Virginia. After a brief illness, she passed to her eternal reward on September 28, 2021, at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bertha (Tice) Zook; one brother, James; and five sisters: Martha, Mary, Grace, Ruth, and Virginia.
She is survived by one brother, Paul Zook and wife Doris, of Chesapeake, Virginia; four sisters: Mildred, Catherine, and Miriam Zook, all of Crockett, Kentucky, and Margaret Hooks and husband Andrew of Taylorsville, North Carolina; 11 nieces and nephews; and 21 great-nieces and nephews.
At the time of her death, Sister Rachel was a faithful member of the Faith Hills Mennonite Church at Crockett, Kentucky. She was also a faithful worker at Rod and Staff Publishers for over 44 years.
Sister Rachel will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her loving and cheerful disposition has been an inspiration to many. Though she is gone, her testimony lives on to those who have been challenged and encouraged by her firm trust in the Lord in all circumstances.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 4, at the Faith Hills Mennonite Church, Crockett, Kentucky, with Bro. William Schueler, Bro. Myron Beachy, Bro. Lamar Steiner, and Bro. Linford Weaver officiating. Burial followed at the Faith Hills Mennonite Church cemetery. Potter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Rachel’s great-nephews.
