Pearl Enone Stevens Mays of Sandy Hook, KY, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020 at her residence, at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 21 days. She was born Thursday, February 23, 1928 at Sandy Hook, KY, daughter of the late Issac & Cynthia Hamilton Stevens.
Enone was united in marriage to James Edward Mays. This union was blessed with a daughter, Sheila. She was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home. She loved to cook, garden, and take care of her family. She was a loving and sweet mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, and will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Mays; her son-in-law, Billy Ray Wilson; five brothers, Emory Stevens, Burnace “Bunk” Stevens, Lester Stephens, Chester Stevens, and Earl Ray Stevens; and two sisters, Bertha Gibson & Delaine King.
She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Sheila & Dennis Meadows of Sandy Hook, KY; two granddaughters, Shawna Whitt of Sandy Hook, KY and Benita & Nick Hammonds of Morehead, KY; eight great grandchildren, Tanner Lewis, Emily Hammonds, Landon Lewis, Braden Hammonds, Ashton Lewis, Easton Lewis, Edyn Whitt, and Elly Whitt; and two sisters & three brothers, Alpha Clevenger of West Liberty, KY, Christine Bays of New Albany, IN, Junie Stevens, Herbert Stevens, and Addie E. Stevens all of Sandy Hook, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 requirements set forth by Governor Andy Beshear, a private graveside service for the immediate family, will be held Sunday, May 17, 2020 at the Elliott County Memory Gardens, Sandy Hook, KY.
