Patsy Richie Steele of Grassy Creek, KY, passed away peacefully at the West Liberty Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness, on Friday, April 10, 2021 at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 17 days. She was born Sunday, August 24, 1930, at Hazard, KY, daughter of the late Richard & Rilda B. Combs Richie.
She was united in marriage to John M. Steele on September 17, 1955. Four children were born to them before John’s untimely death at the age of 45. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to making a home and caring for her children.
In addition to her parents, Richard & Rilda Richie, she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Steele; one daughter, Janet Steele; five brothers, Squire, William, Arnold, Joe, and Charlie Richie; and one sister, Bethana Bostick.
She is survived by three children, Donna & Jim Carty of West Liberty, KY, Alan Steele of King, NC, and Gail & James Johnson of Lawsonville, NC; five grandchildren, Jeremy Carty & Melissa, Malayia Whisman & Shannon, Alexandra Carty & Lee, Tiffany Copeland & Robert, and Jarrod Johnson & Lisa; six great grandchildren, Abigail Broadus, Jake Broadus, Fiona Johnson, Benjamin Whisman, River Lee McClure, and Lucas Carty; two sisters, Charlene Rose of Gratis, OH and Betsy Ann Combs of Hebron, IN; two dear sisters-in-law, Geneva Pearl Steele and Nancy Weddington; and a large group of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She often expressed her strong faith in Jesus Christ and especially looked forward to being in His presence and with her beloved husband and daughter again.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Greg Chaney officiating. Burial to follow in the Grassy Lick Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY. Visitation from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at the Potter Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: James Johnson, Alan Steele, Shannon Whisman, Jeremy Carty, Brent Weddington, Charlie Dixon, Ben Whisman, Greg Weddington, and Lee McClure.
