Opal Ann Cole of Ezel, KY, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the West Liberty Nursing & Rehab Center, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, & 10 days. She was born Wednesday, January 30, 1935, daughter of Silas & Nannie Goad Helton.
Opal was united in marriage to Orville Cole. This union was blessed with one son, Allan. She was a retired head cook for the Woodsbend Youth Development Center. She was a dedicated and faithful Christian and member of the Ezel First Church of God. Opal was the best cook and was loved by all. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas & Nannie Helton; her husband Orville Cole; three brothers, Carl Helton (Ann), Denzil Helton, (Reva), and Bob Helton (Loucretia); and several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law.
Opal is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Allan & Carla Cole of Ezel, KY; three grandchildren, Teretha Johnson (Clayton), Tyler Adkins (Layla), and Devan Adkins (Keisha); seven great grandchildren, Tenley, Brody, Easton, Dawson, & Jase Adkins and Amelia & Alaina Johnson; several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law; and her long-time caregiver, Sandy Ferguson.
Funeral service 1 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Harry Flannery & Bro. Rick Pelfrey officiating. Burial to follow in the Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, KY. Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Devan Adkins, Tyler Adkins, Clay Johnson, Gary Cole, Wayne Cole, Marvin Cole, Kent Cole, and Greg Havens.
