Ollie May McGuire

Ollie May Taulbee McGuire, 82, of Lexington, our much-loved Meme, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Ollie May was born in Ezel, Kentucky on February 10, 1940 to the late Harlan and Cora Lawson Ross Taulbee. She was a 1959 graduate of Ezel High School and attended Berea College. On December 25, 1959 she married Paul McGuire. They raised two daughters, Paula and Donna.

She was a dedicated homemaker, who loved making her daughters’ clothes, quilting, cooking and, most of all, tending to the grandsons she loved so much.  She enjoyed following them in all of their pursuits – school, baseball, marching band, and concerts.

Ollie May was preceded in death by her father, Harlan, and her mother, Cora, brothers Elsberry Taulbee, Russell Taulbee, Lawrence Taulbee, Jesse Taulbee, Luther Taulbee, Charlie Ross, Lonnie Taulbee, and her twin brother Rollie Taulbee, sisters Thelma Manning, Wilma McGarvin, Goldie Manning, Lucille Masters, and Rebecca Frances Taulbee.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul, her daughters, Paula (Mike) Hudson and Donna (John) Goodrich, her grandsons, Aaron Hudson, Joshua Goodrich, and Matthew Goodrich, all of Lexington, her brother Bill Taulbee of Ezel, Ky, sister-in-law Caroldene McGuire of Ezel, Ky,  and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

 Funeral service 1 pm Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Potter Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY, with Rev. Mark Randle officiating. Burial to follow at the Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, KY. Visitation from 11 am – 1 pm Thursday, at the funeral home.
