Neil William Barker

Neil William Barker of Hudson, N.C., formerly of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital, Lenoir, N.C., at the age of 61 years, 6 months and 15 days. He was born on Thursday, October 26, 1961 at Hudson, N.C., son of the late Wilber “Web” & Merita Hice Barker.

He was united in marriage to Carolyn Benton.  He was a professional photographer & substitute teacher, a Christian and was a member of the Freedom Independent Baptist Church in Hudson, N.C. and also attended the Index Community Church while living in West Liberty, KY.  He was a loving husband, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and uncle and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Wilber “Web” & Merita Hice Barker, he was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Barker. 

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn Benton Barker; father-in-law, Jimmie Benton (Flo) of West Liberty, KY; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Lane (Richard) of Campton, KY and Sandy Benton of Sandy Hook, KY; one brother-in-law, Jimmie Benton, Jr. (Betty) of Hazard, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Funeral Service 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Frisby officiating.  Burial to follow in the May Cemetery, Woodsbend, KY.  Visitation from 12 noon - 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home.

Pallbearers:  Barry Lee Stevens, Richard Charles Lane, Jacob Seth Bowman, Jimmie Benton, Jr., Chad Bailey, & family & friends.
