Millard "MG" George Keeton

Millard George “MG” Keeton of West Liberty, KY, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, after an extended illness surrounded by his loved ones, at the U.K. / St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, & 2 days. 

MG was born Tuesday, October 24, 1939 at Blaze, KY, son of Hobert & Leola Perry Keeton.

He was united in marriage to Opal Barker on May 14, 1960.  This union was blessed with two children, Ricky & Joyce.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  MG was of the Church of God Faith.  He loved the Lord and enjoyed watching WLJC.  He was ready to leave this old world, but he feared leaving his family whom he cherished, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a retired farmer & school bus driver for 28 years.  He was devoted to his job and loved all the students whom he called “his kids”.  After retirement, he would often sit on the front porch watching for the school bus to pass by.

MG was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert & Leola Perry Keeton; three sisters, Liz Arsenault, Linda Fugate, and Patty Fugate; one infant brother, Ray Keeton; and four brothers-in-law, whom he loved like his brothers, John David Fultz, Joe Arsenault, Irvine Fugate, & Hammond Fugate.

He is survived by the love of his life of 64 years, Opal Barker Keeton; one son, Ricky (Pauletta) Keeton and Joyce (Alan) Lewis all of West Liberty; three grandson, Brandon (Bonnie) Keeton of Harrodsburg, KY, Darren (Mary) Keeton of Lexington, KY, and Derek (Britney) Lewis of West Liberty, KY; one granddaughter, Kara (John) Perry of West Liberty, KY; two step granddaughters, Heather (Jay) Hoskins of West Liberty, KY and Ashley (Brandon) Hale of Morehead, KY; nine great grandchildren, Connor, John Luke, Regina Ann, Landon, Skylar, Bentley, Mya, Dakota, & Dillon; one sister, Corina Barrett of Church Hill, TN; two brothers-in-law, Clayton Barker of Ashland, KY and Danny Barker of West Liberty, KY; two special friends, Micky Stevens and Mike Grass; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that will mourn his passing.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Garry Ferguson & Bro. Jonathan Sargent officiating.  Burial to follow in the Perry Cemetery, Blaze, KY.  Visitation 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers:  Brandon Keeton, Micky Stevens, Darren Keeton, Derek Lewis, John Fultz, Landon Hale, John Perry, Alan Fultz, Mike Grass, Mike Fultz, Kim Arsenault, Wade Beair, and Dustin Beair.

Honorary Pallbearers:  His Great Grandchildren.
