Melvin Dean Litteral

Melvin Dean Litteral of Winchester, KY, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023, at V.A. Medical Center, Lexington, KY, at the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 6 days. He was born Friday, June 1, 1945, son of the late Clarence & Hazel Jones Litteral.

He was united in marriage to Anna Sue Havens, this union was blessed with two sons, Melvin Keith & Kevin Dean.  Melvin was a U.S. Army Veteran, where he served his country during the Vietnam War.  He was a retired Forklift Mechanic, was a Christian, and a member of Tates Creek Christian Church.  He loved his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

In addition to his parents, Clarence & Hazel Litteral, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Litteral, Jr., Elmer Litteral, & Gilbert Litteral; and four sisters, Grace Tolliver, Norma Gay Litteral, Ruth Litteral, and Pat May.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Sue Litteral; two sons, Melvin Keith Litteral (Bonnie Sue) of Lexington, KY and Kevin Dean Litteral (Erin Michelle) of Winchester, KY; special sister-in-law whom was like a daughter, Jennifer Vander-Laan of Winchester, KY; six grandchildren, Savannah Harkins, Kelsey Litteral, Nathan Litteral, Neil Wethington, Makenzie Litteral, and Khloe Litteral; one sister, Louise Woodrum (Donald) of Lexington, KY; and a host of nieces & nephews.

Memorial service 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Pastor Justin Fluhr & Rev. Mike Frisby officiating.  Visitation from 12 noon – 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the funeral home.
