Maxine Keeton Adkins of West Liberty, KY, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Elliott County Nursing & Rehab Center, Sandy Hook, KY, at the age of 87 years, 8 months, & 2 days. She was born Saturday, August 29, 1936 at West Liberty, KY, daughter of John Tom & Gusta Sweeney Keeton.
She was united in marriage to Donald Curtis Adkins. This union was blessed with two children, Anthony Curtis & Janice. Maxine was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and helping them with any request. She was a Christian and attended the Lick Branch Enterprise Baptist Church as her health permitted. She loved to sit on her porch, raising a large garden every summer, and growing excess garden plants to give to her neighbors and friends and anyone who would ask for them. She enjoyed watching the birds and butterflies, and also enjoyed talking on the phone to all her special friends. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Tom & Gusta Keeton; her husband, Donald Adkins; son-in-law, Frankie Dean Gilliam; and several brothers & sisters.
She is survived by her two children, Anthony Curtis Adkins (Barbara Sue) of Forest Hills, KY and Janice Adkins Gilliam of Crockett, KY; two grandchildren, Samantha Codi Adkins and Amanda Donn Gilliam; and two great grandchildren, Rylan Dean Elliott & Reid Clay Elliott.
Funeral service 1 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Paul Keeton & Bro. Raleigh Jenkins officiating. Burial to follow in the Caskey Cemetery, Lenox, KY. Visitation 6 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Clifford Wright, Raleigh Jenkins, Marvin Holbrook, Marty Adkins, Ray Gilliam, Jonathan Keeton, and Ronnie Dale Keeton.
