Mary Lois (Dickerson) Smith

Lois Dickerson Smith of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at her residence, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, & 9 days.  She was born Thursday, November 18, 1937 at Sandy Hook, KY, daughter of Talmadge & Ernestine Thompson Dickerson.

Lois was united in marriage to Emory Smith.  This union was blessed with two children, Kathy & David.  Lois was a retired elementary school teacher, where she taught at Wrigley Elementary for 30 years.  She was a Christian and a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Talmadge & Ernestine Dickerson; her loving husband of 56 years, Emory Smith; son, David Allen Smith; and brother, Eugene Dickerson.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Walter (Mark) of West Liberty; two grandchildren, Aaron Mark Walter of West Liberty and Deatra Gillespie (Darren) of Staffordsville; four great grandchildren, Braylen Gillespie, Kylen Gillespie, Akyza Walter, & Kaizer Walter; sister-in-law, Brenda Dickerson Finch; and a host of nieces & nephews.

Funeral service, 2 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024 at the West Liberty United Methodist Church, with Bro. Jamie Brunk officiating.  Burial to follow in the Smith Cemetery, Wrigley, KY.  Visitation from 12 – 2 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024, at the West Liberty United Methodist Church.  Potter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers:  Aaron Walter, Darren Gillespie, Shannon Elam, Jackson Elam, Howard Elam, Tim Keeton, John Alden Collins, and Keith Sherman.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Margaret Stacy Circle.
