Marsha Kay (Miller) Elam

Marsha Kay Elam (Miller) passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. She had battled cancer for several years and was under hospice care. She was born June 27, 1948 in Bristol, Va. She was united in marriage to Billy Joe Elam on March 27, 1971, a union which lasted for 47 years. She was a Christian for over 40 years and attended Broadway Frist Church of God, Index Community Church and later in life the West Liberty United Methodist Church. She retired after 27 years of service from the state of Kentucky as a secretary at the Morgan County Vocational School.  

She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Elam, her parents, William (Bill) Miller and Ruby Mae Massey Miller, and a brother Keith Miller.

She is survived by her brother, Jeffrey Miller; two sons, Shannon Wyatt Elam (Kara) and Christoper Shawn Elam (Lacey). Also surviving are four grandchildren: Carrie Shawn Elam Spillman (Blake), Tyler Joseph Elam, Jacob Wyatt Elam, Jackson Wheeler Elam, and two great grandchildren, Parker Reid Spillman and Larah Brooke Spillman; and a sister-in-law Judy Gibson Miller.

Marsha enjoyed crafting, yard sales, festivals, online auctions board games, playing cards, and gospel music.

Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Jamie Brunk & Rev. Karl Elam officiating.  Burial to follow in the Old Elam Cemetery, West Liberty, KY.  Visitation 6 p.m., Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers:  Jacob Elam, Tyler Elam, Jackson Elam, Carrie Spillman, Blake Spillman, Chandler Trusty, Andrew Lester, & Jordan Lester.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Parker Spillman & Larah Brooke Spillman.
