Margaret Ann Wallace of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Wolfe County Health Care Center, Campton, KY, at the age of 95 years, 1 month, and 27 days. She was born Tuesday, October 12, 1926, at Buffalo Valley, TN, daughter of the late Virgil M. & Cordova Fisher Bartlett.
Margaret was united in marriage to H.A. Wallace on May 12, 1946 in Rossville, GA. This union was blessed with four children, Barbara, William, Nancy, and Robert. She worked at Oak Ridge during the development of the atomic bomb and was also a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home. She was a devoted Christian serving the Lord for many years and a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher and did missionary work right here in Morgan County where she had an instrumental part in the development of three Baptist Churches in Morgan County. She was a charter member of the ARH Auxiliary, a member of the Morgan County Homemakers, former 4-H leader, and WMU Regional President for the Red River Association. She loved her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be missed by all of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H.A. Wallace; three brothers and one infant sister.
Margaret is survived by four children, Barbara Motley (John) of West Liberty, KY, William “Bill” Wallace (Wanda) of Hillsborough, NC, Nancy Ison (Phillip) of Lee City, KY, and Robert Wallace (Cheryl) of Shelbyville, KY; nine grandchildren, Leigh Ann Gunnell (Steve) of West Liberty, KY, Amy Severson (Kevin) of Charlotte, NC, Cary Gardner (Chris) of Laurel Springs, NC, David Stiger (Kahana) of Louisville, KY, Abby Stiger of Louisville, KY, Phillip Ison (Katelyn) of Florence, KY, Stephen Wallace of Shelbyville, KY, Jonathan Wallace of Shelbyville, KY, and Benjamin Wallace of Tokyo, Japan; eleven great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Harold Wallace (Berneaze) of Lexington, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service, 1:00 p.m. CST, Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Cookeville City Cemetery, Cookeville, TN, with Robert Wallace officiating. Visitation from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2021, at the Potter Funeral Home. The family requests that everyone attending the visitation to please wear a mask or face covering.
