Margaret Elizabeth Thompson Cottle of Lawrenceburg, KY, formerly of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Heritage Hall Rehab & Wellness Center, Lawrenceburg, KY, at the age of 85 years, 11 months, & 3 days. She was born Sunday, December 18, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of Charles Grover Thompson, Jr. & Margaret McAllister Kinloch Thompson.
Margaret was united in marriage to Garland Cottle. This union was blessed with two daughters, Beverly & Penelope. She was a retired employee of Mountain Telephone in West Liberty. Margaret was a faithful Christian and member of the West Liberty First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and WMU President for many years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Grover Thompson, Jr. and Margaret McAllister Kinloch Thompson; her husband, Garland Cottle; one brother, Charles Thompson, III; and one sister, Deborah Szatkowski.
Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Beverly & Kevin McElwain and Penelope & David Carson; five grandsons, Ben & Alexandra McElwain, Matt McElwain, William & Elizabeth Carson, Douglas & Shannon Carson, and Gregory Carson; five great grandchildren, Colton McElwain, Finn McElwain, Adalaide McElwain, Jeremiah Carson, & Danielle Carson; three sisters & two brothers, Jean & Gary Salyer, Bruce & Harriet Thompson, George Thompson, Susan Clay, and Brenda & Stephen Kendall; and several nieces, nephews.
Funeral service, 1 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Potter Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Cottle Cemetery, West Liberty, KY. Visitation from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday November 23, 2024 at Potter Funeral Home.
