Loretta Allen of White Oak, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the age of 93 years, 1 month, and 18 days.
She was born in Perry County on March 30, 1930 to the late Nettie Haney Barnett. Loretta was then raised by her grandparents, the late Jerry Haney and Susan Haney Phipps.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Upon moving to White Oak, Loretta was a babysitter to several children in the community and was then a nurse’s aide for 22 years at Appalachian Regional Hospital, West Liberty, KY. She was often praised for her kindness when caring for her patients. Her insight and wisdom will carry on through coworkers that had the pleasure of working with her.
Upon her retirement, Loretta enjoyed spending time at home with her family. She enjoyed swinging on her front porch, watching her cats, the comings and goings of White Oak, and simply enjoying the warm sun.
Loretta was a long-time member of the White oak Christian Church. She loved God above all things and throughout her life, she honored and served her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hallard Allen; her son, Danny Bill Allen; grandson, Issac Fugate; brother, Deward Haney; niece Ranell Henry; and aunt, Ruby Wells freeze.
Loretta is survived by her daughters, Lisa Whitt (Ritchie) and Myra Lykins (Larry) all of West Liberty, KY; daughter-in-law, Linda Allen of White Oak, KY; grandchildren, Danielle Lewis (Dwayne), Rebecca Gibbs (Justin), Larissa Johnson (Jacob), Hannah Blevins (Zach), and Robin Robbins all of West Liberty, KY, and Trevor Lykins (Lauren) of Huntington Beach, California.
Great Grandchildren, Kenyian Fugate, Morgan Lewis, Logan Lewis, Jacob Nickell, Jeremiah Johnson, John Johnson, Braxton Russell, Gavin Russell, John William Gibbs, Dakota Blevins, Kasey Wayne Blevins, Larryn Robbins, and Lindsay Robbins; and her special nieces, Carole Jean Hoskins Price, Beverly Johnson, and Debbie Mayse.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the White Oak Christian Church, White Oak, KY, with Greg Helton and Gerard Howell officiating. Burial will follow at the Allen Cemetery, White Oak, KY. Visitation will be starting at 5 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Jack Cline, Jimmy Darrell Easterling, Randy Williams, John Oldfield, Jason Hoskins, Cory Hoskins, and Michael Griffitts.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of the Bluegrass, Hazard, KY, for all of their assistance and compassion during the family’s time of need.
