Lillian Grace Vest Nickell of West Liberty, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at her residence, at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 19 days. She was born Wednesday, November 22, 1933 at Bonny, KY, daughter of the late Millard Vest and Lena Ward Vest Goodpaster.
Lillian was united in marriage to James Arnold Nickell on July 11, 1950. This union was blessed with four children, Dewayne, Lawrence Claudell, Robby, and Deatrah. Lillian’s relationship with her Savior began at an early age and being a talented musician, she enjoyed spreading God’s word and message through music at churches and events around the area until well into her later years. In 2012, Lillian retired as a Cosmetologist, after nearly 50 years of enjoying her profession. Lillian also loved being a foster parent and for over 30 years, she and Arnold positively impacted dozens of children and youth entrusted to their care. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be missed by all of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Arnold Nickell; one granddaughter, Diana Nickell Rose; one daughter-in-law, Loretta Nickell; six brothers, Alvis & Ada Vest, William & Marie Vest, Wendell Vest, Vernon & Beulah Vest, Asa Lawrence Vest, and Lucian & Ruth Vest; and her mother-in-law & father-in-law, Wilson & Ethel Nickell.
Lillian is survived by four children, Dewayne & Nicky Nickell, Lawrence Claudell & Pam Nickell, Robby Nickell, and Deatrah & Phillip Barnett all of West Liberty, KY; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Maxine Vest, Earl & Louise Nickell of Hazel Green, KY, Lois & Joe Lykins of Murphy Fork, KY, Deloris Nickell of Hazel Green, KY, and Lavina Nickell of Conconully, WA; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
Funeral service 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Index Community Church, with Rev. Mike Frisby officiating. Burial to follow in the Ezel Cemetery, Ezel, KY.
