Joy Pendleton Obituary

Joy R. Pendleton passed from this life on December 1, 2020, a youngster of 82.

Born Margaret Joy Ruth to Marvin and Lucille Caudel Ruth in Georgetown, on July 2, 1938, Joy is survived by her daughter Tamara Coffey, of Frankfort; grandson Jason (Chasity) Coffey, of Sandy Hook; granddaughter Caitlin Coffey, of Morehead; three great-grandchildren, Landon Sexton and Leah Coffey, of Sandy Hook, and Caleb Cox, of Morehead; and many beloved cousins, friends, and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donnie and Tim Coffey, and her brother, Jim Ruth.

Joy was a 1956 graduate of Morgan County High School, was co-owner of KenWood Pallet Corp. in Helechawa, and retired from United Code Council in Springboro, Ohio.

She loved traveling; walking on the beach; camping; boating; square dancing; country music; lighthouses; University of Kentucky basketball; Christmas lights; Hallmark movies; a good sense of humor; her pets; class reunions; her Eastern Star sisters and brothers; and being surrounded by family and friends. She was a member in good standing of the OES Paulina Chapter 360 in West Liberty, where she received her 50-year pin three years ago, and was raised up in the West Liberty United Methodist Church. Sidelined by congestive heart failure, in recent years she observed life through her living room window or from a chair on her front porch where she enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels and deer in her yard, waving to neighbors, and visiting with special neighbors who became her Ohio family.

A grave-side service will be held at Brown Cemetery in Morehead, KY on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1 p.m. A celebration of life will be planned for next summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joy’s memory to the American Heart Association, West Liberty United Methodist Church, Salem Christian Church, or the local animal shelter.

Anderson Funeral Homes, Franklin, Ohio, and Potter Funeral Home, West Liberty, are in charge of the arrangements.

Covid-19 regulations will be followed per the State and CDC recommendations. Please wear a face mask and practice social distancing at the services.
