John David Hostetter

John David Hostetter, 80, of Crockett, KY, born May 11, 1946 in Leitersburg, MD, departed this life May 13, 2026, at the Elliott County Nursing Home.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Lorraine Showalter on Oct. 1, 1966.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. & Aletha (Martin) Hostetter.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hostetter, McConnellsburg, PA;  8 children; Twila (Dale) Yoder, Elkfork, KY, Carol (Arlin) Strite, McConnellsburg, PA, Laura (Weldon) Martin, London, KY,
Marie (Elias) Martin, Warfordsburg, PA, Linda (Eric) Lehman, Bedford, PA, & their half-siblings, Jonathan (Sarah) Sampson, Stephens City, VA, Ashley Mitchem, WV, & Samuel Mitchem, WV;
26 grandchildren; & 13 great-grandchildren.
 

He was a talented diesel mechanic, and a member of the Methodist Church in West Liberty, KY.

Funeral Service 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the West Liberty Methodist Church, with Rev. Jamie Brunk officiating.  Burial in the Faith Hills Mennonite Church Cemetery, Crockett, KY.  No public visitation will be held.
