JoAnn (Stevens) Cox

JoAnn Stevens Cox of West Liberty, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Paintsville ARH, Paintsville, KY, at the age of 74 years, 1 month, and 27 days. She was born Monday, February 9, 1948, in Shelbyville, KY, daughter of the late John & Viola Ison Stevens.

JoAnn was a Correctional Officer at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex, where she worked for 17 years until her retirement. She was a Christian and a member of the Wells Union Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, John & Viola Stevens, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband and father of her children, Gary Cox; and two brothers, Johnny Stevens and Eddie Lewis.

JoAnn is survived by her two children, Greg Cox and Melissa Adams (Chalmer) all of West Liberty, KY; one granddaughter, Brittany Williams of Crittenden, KY; one step grandson, Chandler Adams of Morehead, KY; one step great grandson, Easton Adams; three brothers, Hershell Stevens (Joy), Danny Stevens, and Mike Stevens (Ellen), all of West Liberty, KY; three sisters, Sue Fannin, Mona Stamper (H.C.), and Betty Luke, all of West Liberty, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service 1 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmie Tharp & Bro. H.C. Stamper officiating. Burial to follow in the West Liberty Memorial Gardens, West Liberty, KY. Visitation 6 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2022 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Chalmer Adams, Ralph Ison, Scotty Stevens, Shannon Stevens, Scott Linkous, and Derrick Havens.
