Jerry Newton Nickell

To summarize a man’s life in a few paragraphs is a monumental task and if you’ve ever crossed paths with Jerry Newton Nickell, you understand that there are never enough words. Our Jerry, a proud father, doting grandfather, trusted brother, and no greater friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 63 in the presence of his loving daughter, sisters, and “favorite nurse” in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, 30 October 2024. Jerry lived his life full of passion and adventure. He spent many days with his friends and family breaking clays chasing that ever elusive one hundred, slinging bait in pursuit of his next big bass, or smacking an incredibly small ball across the countryside while taking his favorite clubs for a walk.Jerry’s personality was larger than life. He left an indelible impression on every soul he met. A natural salesman and touched with the gifts of gab and numbers, Jerry could talk a stranger out of their shoes standing outside in the middle of an Ohio winter. He made a career of it, finishing as the financial manager for Jeff Reichard Chevrolet in Brookeville, Ohio. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Nickell, mother, Ruie (Gullett), and his older brother and fellow adventurer, Estill “Tut” Nickell. He is survived by his beautiful daughter, Brandi (Travis) Warner; three grandchildren, Audrey, Charli, and Jackson; two faithful four-legged companions, Beau and Bella; two sisters, Linda Nickell and Betty (Bobby) Robinson; bonus sister Patty (Jerry) Collins; three nieces, Tangie (Scott) Grant, Carla Bailey, and Sarah Beth (Andy) Legg; and his chosen family Jimmy Daniels and Aaron Tucker. The Desperado was called home from riding fences and is at peace now. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. Rest easy, Jerry. We love you! See you ‘round like a donut. A Visitation will be held 3 – 6 p.m., Sunday November 3, 2024, at the Dalton Funeral Home, 6900 Weaver Rd., Germantown, Ohio. There will be an additional Visitation that will begin 2 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Elkfork Primitive Baptist Church, West Liberty, Kentucky and continue until the Funeral Service begins at 10 a.m., on Tuesday the 5th, with Elder Rick Howard officiating. The burial will be at the Nickell Family Cemetery. Dalton Funeral Home, Germantown, OH & Potter Funeral Home, West Liberty, Kentucky serving the family.
