Jerry Cecil Lykins age 74, of West Liberty, Ky, passed away Sunday April 30, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness peacefully with his caretakers by his side
. He was born October 3, 1948 in Salyersville, KY, son of the late Homer and Sarepta Howard Lykins.
Jerry was a Vietnam Veteran receiving the Purple Heart, army commendation medal for heroism, good conduct medal and sharp shooter ribbon.
He was a retired pawnbroker of Lykins Music and Pawn Shop in West Liberty and loved music as a very young child and could play any instrument put before him. He looked forward to playing music with all his friends that come by the shop.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Dixie Hill Lykins, five sisters; Shirley, Judith, Jeanette, Gloria, and Sara Rose; eight brothers; Gordon, Orville, Roy, Merlin, Johnny, Ranzie, Raney, and Marvin Lykins; one step son; Austin Thornberry.
Surviving are one daughter, Jerra Lykins, two step daughters; Jennifer and Mona; one step son, Jimmy Thornberry and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harry Flannery and Lundy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the West Liberty Memorial Gardens with Military Service by Morgan County DAV. Visitation 12:00 pm -2:00pm Wednesday .
Pallbearers: Charles Lykins, Tim Lykins, Rick Bartley, Robert Wright, Anthony Price and Lee Hampton.
