Janis M (Adams) Mitchell

Janis M. Mitchell of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at her residence, at the age of 85 years & 5 days.  She was born Thursday, February 15, 1940, in West Liberty, KY, daughter of James Daniel & Rosetti Craft Adams.

She was united in marriage to Ray Mitchell.  She was a former employee for the Morgan County Board of Education and also a former Hair Dresser.  Janis will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Daniel & Rosetti Adams; her husband, Ray Mitchell; and her brother, Larry Adams.

Janis is survived by her son, Richard “Ricky” Stamper of West Liberty, KY; one granddaughter, Cheyenne Crace (Billy) of Georgetown, KY; one sister, Sharon Sparks of West Liberty, KY; three nephews, Michael Sparks (Belinda), Jimmy Sparks, and Wade Sparks (Rhonda); and several cousins.

Funeral service, 1 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Redeemed Baptist Church, with Elder Roy Collett & Bro. Harry Frisby officiating.  Burial to follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery, Caney, KY.  Visitation 6 p.m., Saturday February 22, 2025 at the Redeemed Baptist Church.

Pallbearers:  Michael Sparks, Jimmy Sparks, Wade Sparks, Billy Crace, & Wane Adams.
