James “Dale” Gevedon of West Liberty, KY, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at UK St. Claire, Morehead, KY, at the age of 82 years, 5 months, & 10 days. He was born Thursday, August 27, 1942, in Hamilton, OH, son of James Mitchell & Helen Gevedon DeBorde.
He was united in marriage to Eileen Cox, this union was blessed with five children, James Dale, Jr., Latina, Shannon, Darrin, & Natashia. Dale was a Disabled American Veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army for 6 years. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator formerly working in road construction and coal mines. Dale was of the Church of God Faith and was member of the Maytown Masonic Lodge # 656. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eileen Cox Gevedon; his parents, Mitchell & Helen Gevedon DeBorde; his grandparents whom raised him, Joe Logan & Annabelle Gevedon; and his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Woodford & Thelma Cox.
Dale is survived by five children, James Dale Gevedon, Jr. (Joy) of West Liberty, KY, Latina Gevedon Romans (Tony who was a special son-in-law to Dale), of Denniston, KY, Shannon Gevedon of Kellacey, KY, Darrin Gevedon of West Liberty, KY, & Natashia Gevedon Trimble (Jimmy) of Frenchburg, KY; eleven grandchildren, B.J. Simpson, Jade Gevedon, Jared Gevedon, Nathaniel Gevedon, Dustin Gevedon, Austin Gevedon, Angelina Gevedon, Travis Trimble, Zach Romans, Ryan Romans, & Trinity Romans; twelve great grandchildren; and brothers & sisters, Jerry DeBorde, Jimmy DeBorde, Michelle DeBorde, LaDonna DeBorde, Dan DeBorde, & Tim DeBorde.
Funeral service, 1 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Harry Flannery officiating. Burial to follow in the Grassy Lick Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY. Morgan County DAV to conduct military honors. Visitation 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Sunday February 9, 2025 at Potter Funeral Home.
