James W. Burke of West Liberty, KY, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Morgan County ARH, West Liberty, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, & 21 days. He was born Saturday, October 21, 1944, at Elkfork, KY, son of Walter & Eula “Tiny” Williams Burke.
James was united in marriage to Ruby Adkins. This union was blessed with four children, Stoney Ray, Steven Lenville, Paul Wayne, and Sandra Lee. He was a retired Coal Miner. He had a great love for his grandchildren and also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, sitting siting on his porch drinking coffee and talking on the phone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Tiny Burke; his wife, Ruby Burke; daughter, Sandra Lee Burke; and brother, Everett Burke.
James is survived by three sons, Stoney Ray Burke (Becky), Steven Lenville Burke (Tamra), and Paul Wayne Burke all of West Liberty, KY; four grandchildren, Kaleb Burke (Kasi),, Maddie Stevens (Dylan), Patrick Montgomery (Whitney), and Jenna Evans (Brandon); four great grandchildren, Kennedy, Grayson, Macie, and Pierce Curtis; six sisters, Lovell Wilmoth (Doyle) of Dayton, OH, Betty Stamper of West Liberty, KY, Bernice Holbrook of West Liberty, Roberta Durham (Jerry) of Paintsville, Debbie Sparks of Wellington, and Patty Jean Cordeiro of West Liberty.
James will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
