Imo Jean Penix

Imo Jean Penix of West Liberty, KY, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 1 day. She was born Tuesday, September 2, 1930 at Trace Fork, in Morgan County, KY, daughter of the late Adlia & Loula Pelfrey Johnson.

Imo Jean was united in marriage to Smith Penix, Jr. This union was blessed with four children, Danny, Debbie, Jeff, and Terry. She was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and home. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Adlia and Loula Pelfrey Johnson, she was preceded in death by her husband, Smith Penix, Jr.; two grandsons, Joseph Smith Penix & Wesley Steven Penix; three sisters and one brother, Stella McGuire, Mary Gibson, Mildred Dalton, and Lowell Johnson.

She is survived by four children, Danny and Diana Penix, Sandy Hook, KY., Debbie and Randle Jenkins, Salyersville, KY., Jeff and Judy Penix, Terry and Beverly Penix all of West Liberty, KY; six grandchildren, Stefanie Markwell, Ashley Penix, Kristie Williams, Becky Jenkins, Cortney Jenkins, Zach Penix; six great grandchildren, Gabriel Markwell, Sarah Penix, Zoey Bailey, Matthew Bailey, Jaden Penix, Maddi Penix; one sister, Pauline Jenkins, Salyersville, KY, and a Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Janice Penix, Monroe, OH.

Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Rick Pelfrey and Bro. Eric Pelfrey officiating. Burial to follow in the Brown Cemetery, Matthew, KY. Visitation 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Ashley Penix, Zach Penix, Gabriel Markwell, Logan Markwell, Jaden Penix, Steve Pelfrey. Honorary Pallbearers In Heaven: Wesley Penix and Joseph Penix.
