Hager Arnett Jr. of West Liberty, KY, was released from this life into a blessed eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, January 28, 2022, at Nicholasville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Nicholasville, KY at the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 1 day. He was born on Monday, May 27, 1929, at Stacy Fork, KY, son of the late Hager Sr. and Eliza Ratliff Arnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters: Hermon Arnett, Hortence Benton, Hester Burton, Hazel Steele, and their spouses. Surviving are his wife, Lois Arnett; one daughter, Gloria and Chuck Middleton of Nicholasville, KY; two sons, Derek and Debbie Arnett of Waco, KY and Lynn and Angela Arnett of Georgetown, KY.
Junior graduated from Cannel City High School in 1946. He was the valedictorian of his class. He attended Berea College for a period of time and then farmed together with his father. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon returning home from the service, he married Lois Eloise Perkins on March 26. He also began his career at Licking Valley RECC. He worked there for 42 years and retired in 1995. Junior wired many houses and businesses through the years, along with farming his 65 acres at Stacy Fork. He was a faithful attender of the Walnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church and all the churches of the Burning Springs Association.
He was a faithful husband to his wife Lois for 68 years and 10 months. He reared his three children with love that was never questioned, with an example of life lived that cannot be equaled. He was papaw to Ryan, Brittany, Amanda, Megan, Christian, and Cassandra. He was great papaw to Jovial, Solomon, Asa, Boone, Finnley, Kayson, and Aubrey.
He was Uncle Junior to his extended family, and Uncle Fudge to the Harry Steele family. He was Junior to all who knew him. He was regarded by so many as a friend. In a very short time, he endeared himself to you; you became one to whom a hug would be given. You just felt better because he thought you were special.
The Funeral service will be at Potter Funeral Home at 1 p.m., Sunday, February, 6, 2022, with Elder Doyle Keeton, Elder Rick Howard, and Elder Tom Steele. Burial to follow in the Walnut Grove Wheeler Cemetery, Stacy Fork, KY. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Potter Funeral Home, with masonic services at 8 p.m., by Greenville Masonic Lodge #655.
Pallbearers are his grandsons: Ryan Arnett, Alex Colston, Christian Arnett, and Lucas Powell; his dear neighbors: Bob Phipps and Greg Phipps.
Honorary pallbearers: His beloved nephews and great-nephews.
