Having lived a long and fruitful life, Jerry Knight, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at the age of 83. He left to join our Heavenly Father, including the love of his life, wife Jean Knight, daughter Karen Harper, and grandson Mark Knight in heaven. It was a relief for him knowing he would be reunited with Jean after her passing in 2018. Jerry was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and friend to many. Jerry was a terrific Husband and Father, who was an excellent provider for his family. Throughout his life, he possessed an extremely strong work ethic, which enabled him in the support of his family, and served as an example for his children to emulate.
Jerry was born on August 26, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Sherman Knight (Merle) & mother Eva Lou Myers (Russ), brothers Pat Knight (1945) & James Knight (1972), his wife Jean Knight (2018), daughter Karen Harper (2019), and grandson Mark Knight (2022). Jerry is survived by his sons, Ronald G. Hammond (Stepson) of Locust Grove, GA, Michael D. Knight (Cheri) of Mesa, AZ, Barry K. Knight (Tammy) of Covington, GA, and grandson James M. Knight (Elizabeth) of Covington, GA, brothers Theron (Ingrid) & Gary (Ann) Knight and John (Marty) & Jim (Fern) Riley, Rudy Knight, and sister Sharon Knight Manley (Terry), along with numerous nephews & nieces.
Jerry & Jean previously resided in Medway, OH until 1983. They were previous owners of LG Bottle Shop in Locust Grove, GA where they formed lasting relationships with the community. Jerry was a devoted husband to Jean & father over the years, where they were instrumental in raising their children through a loving, caring, and nurturing nature. Jerry was very family oriented in all that he did.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Potters Funeral Home in West Liberty, KY from 12-3 PM. Reverend James (Jim) A. Riley will officiate. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or your local animal shelter, where donations are tax deductible.
