George Weddington

George Weddington of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, at UK St. Claire, Morehead, KY, at the age of 88 years, 3 months, and 7 days.  He was born Monday, January 10, 1938, at Mortica, KY, son of Add & Grace Spence Weddington.

George was united in marriage to Peggy Lewis.  This union was blessed with two sons, Rick & Jeff.  George was a retired highway construction business owner.  He was a Christian and member of the West Liberty Methodist Church, member of the Highland Masonic Lodge #311, and was honored the title of being named a Kentucky Colonel.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Add & Grace Spence Weddington; one son, Rick Weddington; and four brothers & three sisters, William Weddington (Patty), James Weddington (Lenora), Glenn Weddington, Juanita Gilvin, Add Weddington, Jr., Betty Ann Johnson, & Ella Engler (Curt).

George is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Weddington; one son, Jeff Weddington (Jackie) of Sharpsburg, KY; two grandchildren, Phillip Weddington and Morgan Middendorf (Mason); three great grandchildren, Lane Middendorf, Finn Middendorf, and Jett Middendorf; one brother, Milton Weddington (Deloris); one sister, Genoa Rosenfield; and one sister-in-law, Lois Weddington.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at the Potter Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Brunk officiating.  Burial to follow in the Lewis Cemetery, Pleasant Run Road, West Liberty, KY.  Visitation at 6 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2026 at the funeral home, with Masonic Rites conducted by Highland Masonic Lodge #311 at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers:  Terry Robbins, Brian Reed, Steve Gullett, Wade Gullett, Stevie Barker, and Jamie Phipps.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Phillip Weddington, Lane Middendorf, Finn Middendorf, Jett Middendorf, Mason Middendorf, and Rusty Lindon.
