Geneva Pearl Steele of Grassy Creek, KY, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, at the West Liberty Nursing & Rehab Center, West Liberty, KY, at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 25 days. She was born on Friday, September 6, 1929 at Nickell, KY, daughter of the late Benjamin Floyd & Ada Ethel Byrd Steele.
Pearl was born and lived on Gevedon Branch her entire life and was never married. She was saved and baptized at the age of 17 at Grassy Lick Baptist Church and was a member of the Centerville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and U.K. Basketball. She was known for her homemade candy that she made for her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews. She was a loving sister and aunt, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Benjamin Floyd & Ada Ethel Byrd Steele, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Estill Steele, Rondell Steele, and John Steele; one sister, Anna Mae Oldfield; two sisters-in-law, Patty Oldfield Steele and Patsy Richie Steele; two brothers-in-law, Harlan Oldfield, Jr. and William Scott Weddington; and three nieces, Debbie Steele, Janet Steele, and Kathy Jo Haddox.
Survivors include her sister, Nancy Elizabeth Weddington of Grassy Creek, KY; and a host of special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Service 3 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Greg Chaney & Bro. Danny Collins officiating. Burial to follow in the Grassy Lick Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY. Visitation from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home.
