Ethel Mae Gilliam of West Liberty, KY, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, after an extended illness, at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 16 days. She was born Wednesday, June 30, 1948 at Cow Branch, KY, daughter of the late James P. & Anna Pearl Conley Johnson.
Ethel Mae was a retired Desk Clerk working for Morgan County ARH for 37 years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James P. & Anna Pearl Johnson; one grandson, Robert Phillip “Robbie” Helton; and one brother, Jesse Harold Johnson.
She is survived by three children, Valerie Helton (Robert), Stanley Dean Gilliam, and Vickie Josephine Howard; five grandchildren, Tanisha Bowen (Jeremy), Brittany Wagoner (Dave), Brandon Howard, Casey Howard Young (David), and Candice Gilliam Brown; one step grandson, Derek Crase; five great grandchildren, Olivia Bowen, Annistyn Bowen, Amber Wagoner, Landon Wagoner, and Wyatt Cooper Donathan; one sister, Betty Jean Gilliam; and two brothers, James Herbert “Bubby” Johnson (Gail) and Lyndon Johnson (Sherrie).
Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Elder Dan Hittepole, Elder Tom Steele, & Elder Paul Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lacy Cemetery, Lacy Creek, KY. Visitation from 6 -9 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Robert Helton, Jeremy Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Jeremy Bowen, Billy Conley, Joe Conley, David Conley, Jimmy Conley, Andy Conley, and Michael Gevedon.
Honorary Pallbearer: Matthew Young.
