Ellis Darrell Ratliff of West Liberty, KY, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in West Liberty, KY, at the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 18 days. He was born Wednesday, October 15, 1951, at Dehart, KY, son of the late Jimmy Ratliff and Olive Mynheer Starnes.
What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.
Ellis Darrell Ratliff, I know you are rejoicing in Heaven. I also know you are not gone. You are a part of every life you touched. You are and always will be loved and missed.
Ellis Darrell Ratliff was a retired concrete worker who always worked hard, giving all he had. Retirement did not suit him. He has been working at App-Harvest since February as a Crop Care Specialist. He excelled in this job as well.
Darrell also liked collecting junk metal and hunting ginseng. Most of all he loved his family and church. He was saved a little over 6 years ago and was a member of the Wells Creek Enterprise Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Bowling Kidd Flannery Ratliff, whom passed away October 3, 2021 by his side in the automobile accident; one brother and two sisters, Perry David Ratliff, Mary Ann Bowman, and Sandra Jean Ratliff.
He is survived by six children, Jennifer & Michael Robinette of Catlettsburg, KY, Rebecca & Jeremy Saunders of Charleston, WV, Samantha & Andrew Mycock of Derbyshire, England, Larry & Sara Ratliff of Ashland, KY, Bridgett & Brent Vannatter of London, KY, and April Childers of Corbin, KY; three step-children, Christy Kidd of Owensboro, KY, Dwayne Kidd, and Robert & Tonya Kidd of West Liberty, KY; seventeen grandchildren, Kayelee Laney, Katelyn Robinette, Dakota Mycock, Abigail Mycock, Bryson Mycock, Alissa Fugate, Brayden Fugate, Noah Ratliff, Haley Kidd, Derek Kidd, Jordan Kidd, Reagan Kidd, Levi Burriss, Brentlee Vannatter, Bridger Childers, Braxton Childers, and Ryan Kidd; two great grandchildren, Rebel Kidd and Watson Kidd; three sisters and one brother, Terri & Melvin Fields, Laura Tipton, and Sheila Starnes all of Estill County, KY, and Scotty Starnes of Lawrenceburg, KY.
Funeral Service, 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Elder Steven Gilliam & Elder Timmy Sexton officiating. Burial to follow in the Cottle Cemetery, Zag, KY. Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the West Liberty Fire Department, Morgan County Rescue Squad, Morgan County Ambulance Service; Kentucky State Police - Post 8, Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, West Liberty Police Department & Jacob Ratliff for all of the care & assistance they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Wells Creek Enterprise Baptist Church, C/O Dana Easterling, 2441 Hwy 650, Elkfork, KY 41421; or to a reading program near you.
