Eleanor (May) Ferguson

Eleanor May Ferguson of Grassy Creek, KY, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Grassy Creek, KY, at the age of 102 years, 9 months, & 4 days.  She was born Sunday, November 20, 1921 at Woodsbend, KY, daughter of John Burns & Zona Fugate May.

She was united in marriage to Charles Matthew Ferguson.  This union was blessed with four children, Charles, Jr., Sharon, Nancy, & Mickey.  She was a former elementary school teacher and Avon Representative.  She was a Christian and member of the Grassy Lick Baptist Church.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great & great-great grandmother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Burns & Zona May; her loving husband, Charles Matthew Ferguson; four sisters, Helen Reva May, Irene May Terrell (Joe), Edith Burns May Gunnell (Maxwell), and Betty Ann May Elam (Norman); and two brothers, J.B. May (Lorene) and Woodford “Woody” May (Jean).

She is survived by one son, Charles & Anne McKenzie Ferguson of West Liberty, KY; three daughters, Sharon & Roger Rose of West Liberty, KY, Nancy Lynne Ferguson of Grassy Creek, KY, and Zona Michelle “Mickey” Ferguson of West Liberty, KY; six grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Standafer, Christopher Charles Ferguson, Darren Matthew Ferguson, Roger Rose, III, William Bruce Rose, and Brian Matthew Rose; twelve great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Vivian Ferguson Gevedon of Grassy Creek, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenny Gevedon & Rev. Jamie Brunk officiating.  Burial at Grassy Lick Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY.  Visitation 6 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2024 at the funeral home.
