Effie Jo Shirley

Effie Jo Shirley of Hillsboro, KY, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Hospice of Hope, Maysville, KY, at the age of 73 years, 9 months, and 22 days. She was born Saturday, May 22, 1948, in Lexington, KY, daughter of the late Hoover Triplett & Betty Jo Evans Triplett Peyton.

Effie Jo was united in marriage to Don Shirley on December 31, 1999. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a Christian and a member of the Olympia Church of God. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dexter & Letha Holbrook Evans; one son, Anthony Loren Wheeler; two grandsons, Gregory Kyle Wheeler, Jr. and Joseph Wheeler; two great grandchildren, Ariana Grace & Evan James; and two brothers & one sister, Melvin Triplett, David Triplett, and Kari Renee Triplett.

She is survived by her husband, Don Shirley; five children, Betty Lou Wheeler Hall (Michael Becker) of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Larry D. Wheeler, Jr. of Olympia, KY, Lolanda Joan Prater (Marty) of West Liberty, KY, Ollie Eric Wheeler of Carlisle, KY, and Gregory Kyle Wheeler of Olympia, KY; twelve grandchildren, Charles Ray, Jr., Collyn Ray, Daniel, Juanita, Cynthia, Breana, Erica Dawn, Zachary Ryan, Tony, Ashley, Daniel, and Harley Kyle; twenty four great grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Jerry Triplett (Kathy), Mike Triplett (Linda), Vicki Sue Williams (Terry), and Hattie Karen Griffith.

Funeral Service 1 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2022 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Hunt officiating. Burial to follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery, Woodsbend, KY. Visitation 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2022 at the funeral home.
