Dr. Robert Lawrence “Larry” Henderson, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of joy, generosity, and a life fully lived. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, good brother and cherished friend, Larry lived each of his 75 years with purpose, passion, and adventure.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Rhonda Henderson; his daughter Sara Henderson Allen (Chris) of Versailles, KY; his son John Robert Henderson (Kayla) of Elizabethtown, KY; and his four adored granddaughters: AnnLawrence Allen, Addison Allen, Sara Katherine Henderson, and Madeline Grace Henderson. He is also survived by his brother Dean Henderson and sister Ann Henderson along with many nieces and nephews. His family was the heart of his world, and he took great pride in being “Grandad.”
A graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, Larry began his dental career in 1975 and faithfully served his community for 42 years. His love for his profession was evident in the care he gave to his patients and the countless relationships he built over the decades. He was known not only for his skill as a Dentist, but for his radiant smile and the warmth he brought to every room.
Larry was a pillar in his community, having served on the City Council, Volunteer Fire Department and the Board of Directors for Commercial Bank. His leadership, integrity, and generous spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Outside of his professional and civic life, Larry was an adventurer at heart. He was an avid hunter, a runner having completed a marathon, a competitive tennis player, an enthusiastic fisherman—particularly in Canada and Florida—and a passionate traveler. He took motorcycle trips across the country, from the rocky coasts of Nova Scotia to the winding roads of California. He loved the water, spending countless days at the lake, and was a graceful water skier well into his later years. He also had a lifelong love for snow skiing, with treasured trips out west, especially to Deer Valley, which held a special place in his heart. Larry remained a loyal Kentucky sports fan through the ups and downs!
In 75 short years, Larry lived a lifetime of memories. He checked off his bucket list and then some, always with a smile, a story, and a heart full of gratitude.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Taylor Manor Catholic Nursing Facility in Versailles, KY, in Larry’s honor.
