Donald Adkins

July 17, 1933 ~ October 3, 2020 (age 87)


Donald Curtis Adkins of Hwy. 172, West Liberty, KY, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the residence of his daughter, at the age of 87 years, 2 months, and 16 days.  He was born Monday, July 17, 1933 at Rush Branch, KY in Morgan Co., son of the late Luke and Julia Kansas Pruitt Adkins.

Donald was united in marriage to Maxine Keeton.  This union was blessed with two children, Curtis and Janice.  Donald was a US Marine Veteran, member of Elkfork Masonic Lodge #755, worked for Hobart Factory as machine tester, and loved working in his garden, which he was very good at.  He was as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.     

In addition to his parents, Luke and Julia Adkins, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Frankie Dean Gilliam.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine Adkins, two children, Curtis Adkins and wife Barbara of Forest Hill, KY. Janice Adkins Gilliam of Crockett, KY.; two grandchildren, Samantha Codi Adkins, Pikeville, KY, Amanda Dawn Gilliam, Wrigley, KY; two great grandchildren, Rylan Dean Elliott and Reid Clay Elliott.

Funeral service 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Potter Funeral Home with Raleigh Jenkins, Bro. Paul Keeton, and Bro. Delbert Coffey officiating.  Burial to follow in the Caskey Cemetery, Lenox, KY with military  services by Morgan County DAV.  Visitation after 6:00 pm Monday with Masonic Service at 7:00 pm at the Potter Funeral Home.

COVID-19 Regulations will be followed.
