Dolores Jean Davidson Jones of Cannel City, KY passed away January 12, 2020 at Woodland Oaks, Ashland, KY while under the care of Community Hospice. Dolores was born in Cannel City to the late William and Letha Lykins Davidson. She retired from the Morgan County School System having taught forty-two years at Squire Nickell, Cannel City, and West Liberty schools. Dolores was a member of South Fork Baptist Church; the Morgan County Retired Teachers Association; the Morgan County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and a director with Licking Valley Rural Electric Cooperative. She was a former member of the Paulina Chapter Order of the Eastern Star; the White Shrine of Jerusalem; and the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Dolores and Walton Jones were wed June 4, 1948. Walton preceded her in death on July 18, 1995. She was also preceded in death by nine siblings: E.A. (Jack) Davidson; Vernon Davidson; Pansy Davidson McKenzie; infant sister, Bonnie Lee Davidson; Edward Davidson; infant brother, John Davidson; Ruth Davidson Vest; Richard Davidson; and Billie Davidson Ashcraft.
Survivors include her son, Andrew Walton Jones; nieces and nephews: Paul McKenzie; Jean Davidson Staley; Bobbe McKenzie Stapleton; Ruth Ann Vest; Miriam McKenzie Meadows; and Will Tom Davidson; sister-in-law and husband, Berneaze and Harold Wallace.
Funeral service 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Rose Hill Burial Park Chapel, Ashland, KY, with entombment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Potter Funeral Home, West Liberty, KY.
