Dean Lewis

Ronald Allen “Dean” Lewis of West Liberty, passed away Monday July 6, 2026 at his residence, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 19 days.  He was born on Monday, August 17, 1953 at Hickory Grove, West Liberty, KY.  He was the son of the late Charles W. Lewis and Thelma Fairchild Lewis, both of whom preceded him in death. 

He married Vicci Quicksall on January 10, 1982, and they were blessed with one daughter, Dusti Rose Lewis, who was her father’s beloved “Mouse.” 

Dean is survived by his wife and daughter, one brother, Jerry C. Lewis of West Liberty, three sisters, Sharon Lewis and Keith, Shirley Lewis and Barry, all of West Liberty, and Sheila Raymer and OJ of Smithfield, VA, six nieces, and six nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jackie Lee Lewis, Leavern Lewis, Charles Lewis, Jr., and Marvin Lewis, one sister, Wilma Lewis Adkins, and one nephew, Christopher Lewis. 

Dean was a devoted husband and father, and he was a rock of stability and support for his two “girls,” as he called them.  He was a kind, loving, easygoing family man, who was fiercely protective of those he loved.  He cared deeply for his siblings and his extended family, and he would have aided any of them if needed. 

Dean was always a hard worker and had worn many different hats in his working history, including farmer, factory worker, security guard, and truck driver.  The final stage of his career was spent in various positions with the Kentucky Department of Highways, from which he retired with 21 years of service in 2016. 

He was wonderfully saved on January 1, 1988.  He was a faithful servant to our Lord, and he became an ordained minister.  He served 30 years as the pastor Neal Howard’s Creek Community Church in Elliott County. 

Dean will be remembered for his upbeat attitude, and he never met a stranger.  He was always jolly and full of fun, and he was the same at home or in a crowd.  He had a caring and empathetic heart, and before his health began to fail, no one visited the sick and shut-in more than he did. He prayed beside many sick beds, offered comfort at countless funerals, and his heart genuinely broke at each one.

Mere words cannot describe what he meant to his family.  Our hearts were knit together in love, and the circle has been broken.  Home will never be the same, and the sun will never shine quite as brightly again for those who loved him, but God has prepared a new home in heaven and a glad reunion day. 

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Jason Litton officiating.  Burial to follow in the Lewis Cemetery, Lewis Lane, West Liberty.  Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers:  Adam Lewis, Randall Patrick, Keith Lewis, Barry Lewis, Zach Whitt, Allen Lewis, Billy Lee Lewis, Tommy Fannin and Clayborn Lewis.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Rev. Eugene Haney, J.B. Lewis, and all his nephews.
