David Earl Lewis May of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at his residence, at the age of 68 years, 10 months, and 11 days. He was born Thursday, July 17, 1952, in West Liberty, KY, son of the late Robert Austin May & Loretta Lewis May.
David Earl was united in marriage to Susan Lester on September 2, 1976. This union was blessed with three children, Holly, Erin, and David Joshua.
He was a 1971 graduate of Morgan County High School. David Earl started his own trucking business, KY May Inc., which he owned and managed. He was also a man with many hobbies, one of being an airplane pilot. David Earl was a Christian, and was a member and a former Elder of the West Liberty Christian Church. He was a member of the The Gideons International and for 27 years, he preached at the Woodsbend Boys Camp. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sandi Adkins; and his paternal grandparents, Earl & Hazel May and maternal grandparents, Virgil & Elizabeth Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Lester May; three children, Holly Spradlin & Jason, Erin May, and David Joshua May & Laryn; six grandchildren, Clay David Spradlin, Cole Jason Spradlin, Kinsley Spradlin, Ara May Waeen, Alexis May, and David Holden May; brother-in-law, Tony Adkins & Charlene; three aunts, Henrietta May, Leona Osborne, and Mary Elizabeth May; and three nieces, Jennifer Reynolds & Jon, Carrie Volz & Sean, and Anastasia Mathis & James.
Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Potter Funeral Home with Bro. Hunter Fraley & Bro. Harry Frisby officiating. Burial to follow in the Allen Cemetery, White Oak, KY. Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Potter Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Greg Lester, Joe Lester, Mike Lester, Jason Spradlin, Clay Spradlin, Cole Spradlin, Tony Adkins, John Alan May, and Dwight Hammond.
