David Ralph Holbrook

David Ralph Holbrook of West Liberty, KY, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at his residence, at the age of 72 years and 5 months.  He was born Friday, May 22, 1953, at West Liberty, KY, son of Virgie Wright Gambill & the late Hershel “Bear” Holbrook.

David attended and graduated from Morgan County High School in 1972.  He began his career as a telephone lineman in 1973.  In July 1976, he became an employee at Grayson Rural Electric.  A job he loved and retired from in 2015 after 39 years of service.

David’s love of John Deere was shown as he was known as the best bush hoger ever.  He and Ole John spent many hours on the hillsides in Rowan County.  David gave his heart to Jesus many years ago and attended Flat Gap Baptist Church when his health allowed it.  He loved the Lord and loved to hear Miss Paula sing the Lighthouse.  David is now rejoicing in Heaven.  He would want each and every one of his family and friend to follow him there….             

David was preceded in death by his father, Hershel “Bear” Holbrook.

He is survived by his mother, Virgie Wright Gambill; his twin brother, Delmer “Jack” Holbrook (Jenny); four children, Teri Holbrook, Tonya Gilvin (Frank), Janie Netherly (Preston) and Richard Holbrook (Tara); eleven grandchildren, Trey Gilvin (Samantha), Austin Gilvin (Mariah), Carly Holbrook, Abby Lloyd (Toby), Hannah Riggsby, Addison Gilvin, Ryan Gilvin, Holli Gilvin, Thor Gilvin, Sara Holbrook, and Zachery Holbrook; one great grandchild, Stella Gilvin.  He is also survived by his significant other, Sherry Day.  Along with a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends and his special neighbors, Kendra Bell and Denzil Helton, and his long time uber driver, William Bellamy.

David will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation from 2 p.m.- 9p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Potter Funeral Home.  Funeral service 1 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2025, with Bro. James Wallin and Bro. Robert Blanton officiating.  Burial will be held 11 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2025 at Paint Valley Memorial Gardens, Crockett, KY.

Pallbearers:  Richard Easton, Mike Reynolds, Tom Deboard, Harold Hammond, Jason Rose, and Dean Hill.
