Dana Chyrl Akers

Dana Chyrl Akers of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at the UK Medical Center, Lexington, KY, at the age of 75 years, 8 months, and 14 days.  She was born Thursday, October 25, 1945, at Hyden, KY, daughter of the late Dan F. & Muriel Caudill Melton.

Chyrl was united in marriage to Danny Ray Akers.  This union was blessed with three children, Danny Wayne, Margaret Carol, and Paul Darren.  She graduated Good Samaritan Nursing School in 1966 and began her career as a Registered Nurse.  Before retiring, she worked for ARH for many years.  She had a major role in getting home health started in Morgan County and also trained the home health nurses.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and will be missed by all of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan F. & Muriel Caudill Melton and one sister, Virginia Carol Combs.    

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Danny Ray Akers; three children, Danny Wayne Akers, Margaret Carol & Tony Jenkins all of West Liberty, KY, and Paul Darren & Jenny Akers of Salt Lick, KY; ten grandchildren, Dakota Akers & Alley, Olivia & Chuck Easterling, Danielle & Kyle Hammons, Austin & Shae Akers, Lane Jenkins & Tina, Allie & Anthony Wisecup, Caitlyn & Robert Allen, Baylee Akers & Jordan, Dylan Akers, and Braden Akers; nine great grandchildren, Rylan Jenkins, Henry Hammons, Khloe Hammons, Aiden Hammons, Ryan Watkins, Ethan Leigh, Willow Leigh, Logan Wisecup, and Maddox Easterling.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2021 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Elder Jimmy Adkins, Elder Tom Steele, & Elder Dan Hittepole officiating.  Burial in the Church of Christ Cemetery, Lacy Creek, KY.  Visitation from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2021 at the funeral home.
